How can you build a community that is ready to heal together when faced with sudden losses and crises?
Shawn Zevit is the lead rabbi of congregation Mishkan Shalom, in Philadelphia. Rabbi Zevit worked for the Jewish Reconstructionist Movement (1998-2012) as Director of Congregational Services and Social Justice, consulting with and supporting dozens of congregations, organizations, federations and social justice initiatives in the Jewish and larger world. Along with Rabbi Marcia Prager, Rabbi Shawn co-directs the award-winning Davennen Leader's Training Institute (www.davvenenleadership.com) and is a spiritual director and trainer of Jewish clergy in spiritual direction. He is also a recording and performing artist (http://www.cdbaby.com/Artist/ShawnZevit) and has been an organizer for over twenty years of mens' programming and retreats; and co-editor with Harry Brod of Brother Keepers: New Perspectives in Jewish Masculinity, as well as the first Jewish-based book for the Alban Institute: Offerings of the Heart: Money and Values in Faith Community.
David E. Piver, Esq., is serving in his third year as president and Board Chair of Mishkan Shalom in Philadelphia. David is founding partner of the Immigration Law Offices of David E. Piver and a frequent speaker on national immigration legal matters. David is a graduate of Cornell University and Villanova Law School, and has served on the boards of numerous non-profit organizations.
